American craft brewers are always experimenting and looking for a new beer to delight their customers with, and that’s what led to the creation of Double IPA – more of everything that people love in an IPA.
Early versions were typically all-malt and had a lot in common with American Barleywine, but the style has refined over the years to incorporate a proportion of simple sugar to maintain the higher alcohol but reduce the body of the beer.
The lighter body lets the hop character shine brighter and doesn’t fill you up after only one pint.
This recipe is one of my favorites.
